Onggi is a method for making large pieces quickly and efficiently. Neither a wheel‬ throwing method nor a pure handbuilding method, Onggi requires a unique set of techniques that‬ allow the maker to create a jar of any scale with the highest efficiency of‬ movement.‬ ‭Students will learn and study each step in this process from stretching the clay into coils‬, making the base, coiling up the wall, to the paddling,‬ shaping, rim making, etc. We will also discuss traditional glaze and firing methods.‬ ‭This course welcomes those who desire to make larger work but may be intimidated by throwing large‬ on the wheel.
